Myanmar - Land of Temples

Formerly known as Burma, the name of the ethnic majority, the country was renamed Myanmar in recent times to be more inclusive of the minorities. Myanmar is majority Buddhist, to which the temples attest.Only recently released from the strait jacket of embargoes and military rule, Myanmar feels like it's in a time warp, rapidly trying to catch up with their neighbours. Labour is still mostly by hand, undertaken by men and women alike. The people are charming, and this gives you a glimpse into the mighty Irrawaddy River, as well as a peek at Inle Lake. And unlike their counterparts in Asia, there are very few people trying to sell you anything, except for near Bagan.
